Statement

Painting energizes me. It's a journey of discovery and growth. I enjoy creating the timeless, unique and joyful moments of life. I especially like creating sea, snow and city scenes--where imaginary boundaries disappear and a poetic rhythm flows from my paintbrush.

I am sensitive to light, shadows and reflections. I feel they contribute impact, mystery, and resonance. While painting, I sometimes borrow ideas developed from my music and business experiences. This has helped me grow and improve in each area.

I am very thankful to God for giving me the curiosity and opportunity to express myself through oil painting. I am especially thankful to my special wife, Gigi, who helps me in every way.

Bio

Mark was born on Long Island, where the ocean was a neighbor and friend. Early creative influence came from his artistic mother, Elizabeth Daly. His knowledge of art was broadened by Woodhull Young, a painter and the Curator of the Vanderbilt Museum. As a child, Mark would frequent Woodhull's studio overlooking the sailboats and fisherman in Huntington Harbor and learn as Woodhull shared lessons from worldwide painting expeditions. Today, C. W. Mundy, a master American Impressionist mentors Mark.

Mark is a Signature member and Assistant Curator of the Cincinnati Art Club. He is also a member of the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society. He exhibits regularly and his paintings are in many private and public collections.

Beyond painting, Mark composes and performs on the mandolin. He is a voting member of the Grammy's, has performed worldwide and has two solo music projects. Mark has been CEO of several successful businesses. He wrote the book, 5 Steps To Board Success and has served on many boards. He has a BA from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Inspired CD

Above is an original musical composition Mark wrote called Shades of Sunlight. The tune was inspired by the joys of painting outdoors with dappled sunlight all around you. It can be found on Mark's  Inspired! CD which is available at CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes and other digital and retail outlets
