Mark Daly Fine Art

Marines, Landscapes, Plein Air Oil Paintings

Mark Daly was born on Long Island where the ocean was a neighbor and friend. Early creative influence came from his mother, Elizabeth Daly, a painter. His knowledge of art was enhanced by Woodhull B. Young, a painter and Curator of the Vanderbilt Museum. Mark would frequently visit Woodhull’s studio overlooking the sailboats and fisherman in Huntington Harbor and learn as Woodhull shared lessons from his worldwide painting expeditions. As an adult, Mark continues to observe, learn and grow from C. W. Mundy, an experienced and well-known American impressionist and a good friend.

Mark feels privileged to be able to paint. His work reflects deep feelings for water and the season’s—the subjects of many of his paintings. He loves discovering the impact and mystery that sunlight, shadows and especially reflections add to a painting. Mark spends considerable time choosing a scene and arranging a composition yet he is spontaneous and energetic while painting and often completes a work in one or two settings.

Mark is a Signature Member and Assistant Curator of the Cincinnati Art Club. He is also a member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society and the Cape Cod Art Association. His paintings are in private and public collections throughout the United States. He graduated from Cornell University and has a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton school.
